DIY- SUITCASE UMBRELLA STAND with Curb Side Appeal

Project Challenge-"OLD FRAMES" Rather than choose a project using an Old Frame as the Focal Point, for this project I chose to use the Old Frame to enhance a section of a Larger Project. In this occasion the frame helps to define my HOUSE NUMBER adding that extra touch towards my Curb Side Appeal.

A Quick, Simple & Inexpensive Project that serves 2 purposes with eye catching Curb Side Appeal. Create your very own “SUITCASE UMBRELLA STAND” that displays your house number clearly.

When looking at the Generous amount of Old Frames in a Charity Shop/ Thrift Store remember that there are many different Decor & Craft uses for these Old Frames. Beyond the obvious of upcycling the old frames recreating them as the focal point of your project, old frames make wonderful enhancements/embellishments to larger projects.

This Project shows how using an Old Frame can be the perfect enhancement or finishing touch needed when you incorporate the into your Larger Project. Here you have A SUITCASE UMBRELLA STAND WITH CURB APPEAL BY DISPLAYING THE HOUSE NUMBER WHICH IS DEFINED AND HIGHLIGHTED WITH AN OLD FRAME BOARDER.

SANDPAPER TO ROUGHEN UP THE EDGES FOR A SHABBY CHIC OLD CHARM LOOK

I firstly Painted the entire suitcase, I spray painted the section where the NUMBER 7 was in the same colour as the frame and then placed a sticky vinyl number 7 over the top of dry paint and completed spray painting that section the same colour as the suitcase.

I then worked on the frame separately I spray painted the frame allowed it to dry and then used sandpaper to roughen up and distress. Once the suitcase was dry I also used sandpaper to distress all the metal areas.

I removed the vinyl number 7 and the look you see was the look that was achieved I did not have to do anything I was tickled pink with the out come.

OLD FRAME CHALLENGE

Using a sticky vinyl cut out I painted over the top once I removed this is the brilliant effect I was left with. I was so Happy with How well it matched in with my Old Frame

A can of Spray Paint and some course sandpaper can turn a boring Old Frame into a piece of old world charm in under an hour

Using an Old Frame to enhance a Project rather than be the focal point

Using an Old Frame to enhance a Project rather than be the focal point has really worked for my Suitcase Umbrella Stand. I think the Old Frame really make the House Number Stand out giving extra Curb Appeal to my project

I then used a strong wood glue to adhere the Old Frame to the Suitcase and left it for a couple of Hours to set. I placed a Large rock in the bottom of the suitcase to weigh it down so the wind does not knock it over and to give height to my umbrellas and TaDA all is done.
